We are having a scavenger hunt this year tying our items of interest to the county and state of Nebraska
Description: The museum complex includes the E.C. Houston House built in 1904. We are on the National Register of Historic Places. The house features artifacts from the surrounding Burt County areas. Mr. Houston was in the coal and lumber business in Tekamah and Herman. The house consists of four levels, counting the basement. Most of the wood through out the house is oak; but you will find some birch on the second floor as well as heart of pine and quarter sawn pine. As you enter you will view a beautiful open staircase done in a classical fashion adorned with an inviting landing featuring a beveled and leaded window.

Also on the grounds you will find our famous Folsom Bridge, a home built in 1908, and a one room school-house. We host a variety of gatherings through out the year along with our private touring. Our annual open house is in late November when the museum comes alive with our “Fantasy of Trees Tour”. Local area volunteers choose a room in the two houses and decorate a tree for our open house. The fourth graders of Burt County schools make decorations for the tree in the school-house and volunteers put them on the tree. We also have our annual bake sale in December.
