What happens if you have an items(s) that have been here so long and no family members (that we know about) aren’t available to contact. Is their a NEbraska Law or whatever?

Nebraska’s Museum Property Act can be used to resolve issues of old loans or property where you do not have documentation of a clear transfer of title. See http://nebraskalegislature.gov/laws/browse-chapters.php?chapter=51 and look at lines 51-701 through 51-712.
